Vermicelli upma / uppittu


Good evening again :)
I’ll post the recipe of vermicelli upma now. I’d prepared it for breakfast this morning :) It is easy, simple, fast and tasty too :)
Without much of waiting I’ll write in the recipe. It goes as follows

Ingredients (For 4 people)

2 ½ cups of vermicelli
1 medium sized onion chopped
1 medium sized potato
1 – 2 green chillies finely chopped
¾ cup grated coconut
1 ½ cups of water
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste





Seasoning

3 tbsp cooking oil / ghee
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp channa dal
6 – 7 curry leaves

Method

Take 3 tbsp of ghee / cooking oil in a vessel and heat it.
Add the seasoning, i.e. mustard seeds. After the mustard seeds stop popping add the cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal, and curry leaves.


Then add the onions and green chillies. Stir fry them for about 2 minutes on a low flame.


Then add the diced potatoes. Stir fry the ingredients.


Then add the vermicelli and again stir fry it for about 3 – 4 minutes.


Now add water and salt and mix gently. Don’t mix it too much. But see to it that the salt has mixed well.



Keep it on a low flame and covered with the lid.
After around 6 – 7 minutes, the upma will look as follows.


Now add the coconut and mix very gently.
The upma is now ready to be served :)


Try out this :) it is too too too…. Simple :)
