Semolina Uppittu / Bombay Rava Uppittu / Upma

Another addition was this upma with the sweet pongal for nagara panchami. An extremely simple breakfast preparation which many of them hate, but not me. ;) Uppittu if made with lot of interest and love always tastes wonderful. :) And this logic applies to any kind of food one makes.

Made with bombay rava / bombay suji / semolina uppittu tastes the best!

Without taking much of your time I'll delve into its preparation.

Ingredients (3-4 servings)

1 cup semolina / bombay suji / bombay rava
1 ripened tomato (Chopped)
1/2 cup of grated carrot
1/2 cup of chopped beans
2 green chillies (chopped)
1 1/2 tsp sugar
2 1/2 cups of water (for the semolina)
3/4 cup of water (for boiling the vegetables)
Salt to taste

Seasoning

5-6 curry leaves
2 tbsp ghee/oil
1 tbsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp of cumin seeds
1 tbsp of green gram dal

Method

Boil the tomatoes, carrot and beans in 3/4 cup of water.

In a wok, add the oil and wait for it to heat under medium flame.

Once its heated, add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and wait for it to pop. Then add the curry leaves, gram dal and then add the chopped green chillies.

Add the semolina and salt together to the wok / vessel and mix well.

Add the boiled vegetables, sugar and water (2 1/2 cups) and mix it. Do not mix it too much. Just a mild stir is sufficient.

The mixture will look as follows after 3-4 minutes. The semolina will be cooked.

And the uppittu is ready :) :)

Happy cooking :):):)
